USAFA Women's Tennis Invitational Finishes Second Day

Updated Doubles Brackets in PDF Format Day two of the USAFA Women's Tennis Invitational wrapped up Friday after two rounds of singles and one round of doubles. Joining the Air Force Academy are teams from Colorado, Colorado State, Northern Colorado, Denver, Wyoming, Memphis, Northern Arizona and Cornell. Air Force senior captain Kelly Morgan had the best outcome for the Falcons, advancing to the finals of singles flight 6 with a pair of victories on Friday. Morgan defeated Patrice Biemold of Northern Arizona, 6-1, 6-4, in the first round, then beat Martina Sedivec of Colorado, 6-2, 6-4, in the semifinals. She will face Maria Mechem of Denver for the flight 6 championship on Saturday at 12 p.m. The only other Falcon to win her first round singles match was freshman Erlyn Rudico, who topped Sarah Seltsam of Colorado State, 6-2, 7-5, in flight 7. Unfortunately, Rudico fell to Regan Newman of Northern Arizona in the semis, 6-1, 6-1. In doubles play, sophomore Meghan Kiser teamed with freshman Rachel Knight to post the only victory for Air Force, an 8-4 triumph over Marjorie Ondeck and Alex Tjioe of Memphis in flight 2. Two rounds of doubles and one round of singles will be played on Saturday, the final day of the tournament.
