Falcons Finish Day Two of USAFA Invite

Updated Brackets in PDF Format The Air Force women's tennis team completed the second day of the 2010 USAFA Invitational Saturday at the Academy. Senior Christen Monreal and juniors Tahlia Smoke and Megumi Voight captured singles wins, while Smoke and sophomore Melissa Cecil won their doubles match. Voight cruised into the finals of the "F" singles bracket with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Taylor Schumacher of Northern Colorado. She will face Carly Van Hollen of Mountain West Conference rival Wyoming Sunday morning in the final. Monreal, meanwhile, won her match in the "A" flight Saturday, downing Caitlin Fluegge of Colorado State, 6-0, 6-1. She will face Kristina Schleich of Colorado for fifth place on Sunday. Smoke defeated Tori Arneson of Colorado State, 7-6, 7-6, in an extra match in the "B" flight. In doubles play, Smoke and Cecil won their "A" flight match on Saturday over Malika Rose and Alisa Buslaieva of Oklahoma State, 8-6. They will play for fifth place in the flight against Nino Mebuke and Miriam Westerink of Eastern Michigan on Sunday morning. The tournament resumes Sunday at 8 a.m., with the final round of doubles, followed by the final round of singles. Air Force Results
