AFA Completes Play at Cougar Classic

The Air Force women's tennis wrapped up play at the season-opening Washington State Cougar Classic Sunday in Pullman, Wash. Senior Sarah Cassman lost her first match of the tournament after four straight wins, falling to Marina Nicolas of Washington State, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, in the semifinals of the "Gray" singles bracket. Freshman Anastasia Hueffner also posted a 4-1 singles record with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Madeline Murray of Montana in the consolation bracket. Senior Christen Monreal completed a 3-1 tournament with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory over Seattle's Katrina Schwab in the consolation bracket of the "Crimson" bracket. "I could not be more pleased of the effort our entire team put forth this weekend," said head coach Kim Gidley. The Falcons return to action next weekend by hosting the USAFA Invitational. The 12-team tournament begins on Friday, Oct. 1. Air Force Results
