    The Air Force women's tennis team opened its 2009 fall campaign Friday at the College of Charleston Invitational in Charleston, S.C. Five Falcons each split a pair of matches on Friday, including junior Christen Monreal and freshman Melissa Cecil, who each won her first round match.

    Monreal downed Andrea Rivera of UNC Charlotte, 6-3, 6-2 in the first round of the A1 singles flight before falling to Holly Dowse of College of Charleston, 6-1, 7-5 in the quarterfinals. Cecil, meanwhile, beat Samantha Galginena of Davidson, 6-1, 6-0 in the first round of the A2 flight, then fell in the quarters to Emma Hayman of College of Charleston, 6-3, 6-2.

    The tournament continues on Saturday with the singles semifinals and two rounds of doubles.
