Falcons Complete Day One at BYU Invitational

The Air Force women's tennis team completed the first day of the BYU Invitational Thursday in Provo, Utah. The three-day tournament continues on Friday. Sophomore Katrina Eromin captured Air Force's only win in the main draw of the "A" singles flight. She defeated Anette Pohjalainen of Colorado State, 6-3, 6-0, avenging a pair of losses to Pohjalainen last season. Eromin lost in the second round to the tournament No. 3-seed, McCall Jones of BYU, 6-1, 6-0. Three Falcons, senior Christine Abayan and sophomores Sarah Cassman and Christen Monreal, won their first consolation match after falling in the first round of the main draw. In the "B" singles flight, freshman Shelley Johnson won the first match of her collegiate career in the consolation round over Marie Livingston of Utah State. Johnson lost to Greer Satherlie of Colorado State, 6-1, 6-2, in the first round of the main draw. All four Air Force doubles teams lost their first match in the main draw and will play in the consolation round on Friday. Updated results and brackets can be accessed online at www.edraws.com/byu.
