    The Air Force women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Wyoming Cowgirl Invitational Sunday in Laramie, Wyo. Senior captain Lauren Wilson led the way by capturing fifth place in the top flight in singles and doubles.

    Wilson won her singles match against Tiffany Knop of Northern Colorado, 6-2, 6-1, then paired with fellow senior Erika Shortridge to defeat Greyce Farias and Kelli Lindley of Weber State, 8-3.

    Junior Christine Abayan won the consolation round of the top singles flight when Inalise Pienaar of Weber State had to retire with Abayan leading 6-1, 1-0.

    Shortridge and freshman Sarah Cassman also won singles matches on Sunday. Shortridge downed Alyssia Pyne of Weber State, 6-0, 6-1, while Cassman pulled out an exciting 6-1, 3-6, 10-8 victory over Kirsten Stople of MWC foe Colorado State.

    "I was extremely proud of our players this weekend," said Air Force head coach Kim Gidley. "The team got a lot of match play, which we were looking for. We need to still our on our execution, but the fight was there."

    The Falcons will split their squad next weekend as part of the team will play at the Texas Tech Invitational in Lubbock, Texas, and part at the University of Maryland Invitational in College Park, Md.
