Falcons Lose at New Mexico, 7-0

    The University of New Mexico women's tennis team downed Air Force, 7-0, Friday at the Lobo Tennis Club in Albuquerque, N.M. The Lobos improved to 8-13 overall and 3-4 in the Mountain West Conference, while the Falcons fell 10-15 overall and 0-7.

    New Mexico won the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Sophomore Christen Monreal and freshman Allie Chermel won the No. 3 match, defeating Maria Sotirchos and Victoria Tessmar, 8-4.

    In singles play, UNM won all six matches in straight sets. The best match of the day came at the No. 5 spot between sophomore Katrina Eromin and Anya Villanueva-Forte. Villanueva-Forte won the first set, 6-4, then took a second-set tiebreaker, 7-3.

    The Falcons close out their regular season next Saturday, April 18 against Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colo., beginning at 10 a.m.
