Falcons Fall to No. 27 TCU, 5-2

Despite winning the doubles point, the Air Force women's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision to 27th-ranked TCU in Mountain West Conference action Thursday morning at the Randy Briggs Tennis Bubble in Albuquerque, N.M. With the victory, the Horned Frogs improved to 11-9 overall and 5-1 in the MWC, while the Falcons fell to 10-14 and 0-6. Air Force took an 1-0 lead for the first time in conference play this season after winning two of the three doubles matches, including a default win at the No. 3 position. Senior Christine Abayan and sophomore Katrina Eromin clinched the point with an exciting, 9-7 victory over Gaby Mastromarino and Anna Sydorska at the No. 1 spot. TCU's No. 2 team of Katariina Tuohimaa and Idunn Hertzberg defeated sophomore Christen Monreal and freshman Allie Chermel, 8-4. In singles play, TCU claimed five of the six matches, with Air Force's lone win coming at the No. 3 spot, where Chermel defeated Mastromarino, 7-6, 6-3. TCU won the other five matches in straight sets, including a 7-5, 6-4 victory by Tuohimaa over Monreal in the No. 1 match. The Falcons play New Mexico on Friday, April 10, beginning at 1 p.m.
