Falcons Fall to BYU, 7-0

The Air Force women's tennis team lost a 7-0 decision to Mountain West Conference foe BYU Thursday in Provo, Utah. The Cougars, who won all nine matches, improved to 9-6 overall and 2-1 in the MWC while the Falcons fell to 14-7 overall and 0-3 in league play. BYU swept the three doubles matches to capture the doubles point. The closest match was at the No. 3 position where the Falcon duo of senior Sarah Cassman and sophomore Hannah Dake were edged by Elle Carney and Aubrey Paul, 8-7, losing the tiebreaker 7-3. The Cougars then swept all six singles matches in straight sets, led by Megan Price, who defeated senior Christen Monreal, 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot. The Falcons nearly forced a third set at the No. 3 and 5 spots, with junior Tahlia Smoke falling 6-3, 7-5 to Carney at No. 3 and freshman Anastasia Hueffner dropping a 6-1, 7-5 decision to Elizaveta Ezhova at No. 5. The Falcons are back in action on Friday, April 8 against Utah, beginning at 1:30 p.m., in Salt Lake City, Utah.
