March 31, 2007
Despite an exciting, three-set victory at No. 4 singles by senior Kelly Morgan, the Air Force women's tennis team dropped its second consecutive match overall and fifth straight Mountain West Conference contest, losing 6-1 to Utah Saturday in Fort Collins, Colo. The Falcons fell to 10-11 overall and 0-5 in league play. Morgan captured the only win of the day for Air Force, defeating Andrea Maughan, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0(10-7). Utah won the other five singles matches in straight sets, including a 6-2, 6-2 victory by Elizabeth Ferris at the No. 1 spot over Falcon sophomore Christine Abayan. Utah captured the doubles point with wins at all three doubles spots. The best of the three matches was at the No. 2 spot, where Utah's tandem of Maughan and Karine Bourdages snuck past senior Karissa Walker and junior Lauren Wilson, 8-7(3). The Falcons wrap up the weekend on Sunday, April 1 as they take on the Colorado State Rams at 2 p.m. in Fort Collins. Utah 6, Air Force 1 Singles: Doubles:
