Falcons Fall to Boise State 6-1

Despite winning the doubles point Sunday, the Air Force women’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Boise State in its second Mountain West match of the season. The Falcons fell to 10-6 and 1-1 in the league this spring while the Broncos improved to 10-8 and 3-2.
Boise State won the No. 2 doubles match as Anissa Bryant-Swift and Teal Vosburgh downed junior Tiffany Tran and freshman Lily Forlini, 8-4, but the Falcons won the other two matches for a 1-0 lead. Junior Natasha Rizvi and sophomore Mary Meyers won at the top spot 8-6 over Megan LaLone and Sandy Vo, then AFA took the point when senior Anastasia Hueffner and junior Marcelli Magday beat Morgan Basil and Sammie Watson 8-6 at No. 3.
The Broncos turned the momentum in singles, winning all six matches, five of them in straight sets. Bryant-Swift started things off with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Meyers at No. 2 and Basil beat freshman Tracy Landram 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5. Vosburgh took a 6-3, 6-2 decision from Rizvi at No. 3 and LaLone clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Magday at the No. 4 spot.
Watson downed Forlini 7-5, 6-3 at the No. 6 spot while Vo beat Tran 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 at the No. 1 position in the last match off the courts.
The Falcons return home to play the first of four home matches next weekend on Friday, April 4 against Wyoming beginning at noon.
