Falcons Down Butler, 6-1, and CSU-Pueblo, 7-0

The Air Force women's tennis team improved its 2007 record to 9-7 with a pair of victories Friday at the Academy. The Falcons defeated Butler, 6-1, and CSU-Pueblo, 7-0.
Air Force won 17 of 18 matches during the day, and the one Air Force lost was the best of the day. Senior Kelly Morgan and Butler's Tifany McLoughlin battled for three sets in the No. 2 singles match this morning, with McLoughlin squeaking by with a 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 victory.
Morgan did win her doubles match, however, as she paired with sophomore Christine Abayan to defeat Molly Casperson and Becky Jenkins, 8-3. Air Force won the other two doubles matches as senior Karissa Walker and junior Lauren Wilson captured to No. 2 match over Michelle Hawes and McLoughlin, 8-6. Sophomore Meghan Kiser and freshman Erlyn Rudico defeated Chelsey Casperson and Carrie Rachon at No. 3, 8-5.
The Falcons cruised through the other five singles matches, including a 6-3, 6-3 victory by Wilson at the top spot over Molly Casperson. Air Force also won the other four singles matches in straight sets.
In the afternoon match, Air Force dominated the Division II Thunderwolves from the start. No falcons gave up more than two games in any of the six singles matches and won 6-0, 6-0 at the Nos. 4, 5 and 6 spots.
The Falcons return to Mountain West Conference action next weekend as they battle San Diego State at 10 a.m. (PT) in Las Vegas, Nev.
