Falcons Blank Montana State, 7-0, For Fifth Straight Win

The Air Force women's tennis team won its fifth consecutive match, blanking Montana State 7-0 Friday at the Academy. The Falcons improved to 9-4 this season by winning all nine matches, while the Bobcats fell to 3-5. The Falcons opened the match by easily winning all three doubles matches. Senior Christine Molina and sophomore Natasha Rizvi got things rolling with an 8-0 victory over Wena Tsan and Liana Bates at the No. 2 spot. Seniors Melissa Cecil and Hannah Dake clinched the point with an 8-2 triumph over Charlotta Hjalmarsson and Paulina Lopez Trevino at the No. 1 position. Sophomores Tiffany Tran and Marcelli Magday won the No. 3 match, 8-2, over Ellie Crum and Gabi Villegas. In singles action, the Falcons swept all six matches in straight sets. Dake got things rolling with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Crum at the No. 3 position, followed by Molina defeating Hjalmarsson, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2. Rizvi clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Tsan and Tran (No. 2), Cecil (No. 5) and freshman Mary Meyers (No. 6) also won in straight sets. The Falcons open Mountain West action on Saturday, March 9 against Colorado State in Fort Collins, beginning at 5 p.m. Air Force 7, Montana State 0
