Falcons Fall to New Mexico State, 5-2

The Air Force women's tennis team suffered its third consecutive defeat Sunday as the Falcons dropped a 5-2 decision to New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M. The Falcons fell to 3-9 this season, while NMSU improved to 7-3 with the victory. Senior Lauren Wilson and freshman Christen Monreal posted each posted a singles victory for Air Force. Wilson won the No. 2 match, rallying from a set down to defeat Zeljka Juricek, 0-6, 6-4, 6-3. Monreal, meanwhile, won her second singles match of the weekend, also coming from behind for a 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Paulina Zuniga at the No. 5 spot. NMSU handily won all three doubles matches then won the Nos. 1, 3 and 4 singles matches in straight sets. At No. 6 singles, Bianca Discordia came back from losing the first set to AFA freshman Katrina Eromin, 6-1, and won the final two sets, 7-5, 6-3. Air Force continues on the road next weekend with three matches in Lincoln, Neb., beginning with the University of Nebraska on Friday, Feb. 29 at 4 p.m.
