Falcons Fall to Washington State, 6-1

    The Air Force women's tennis team fell to 1-2 this season after a 6-1 loss to Washington State Saturday afternoon in Pullman, Wash. The Falcons close out their four-match road trip with a pair of matches on Sunday, Jan. 18.

    Sophomore Sarah Cassman and freshman Allie Chermel won the No. 3 doubles match for the Falcons, defeating Jessica Gomez and Marina Nicolas, 8-6. WSU won at the top two spots to claim the doubles point.

    In singles, freshman Tahlia Smoke produced the lone Air Force victory, downing Aleksandra Cekic, 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot. The Cougars captured the other five matches, all in straight sets.

    The Falcons play the University of Idaho Sunday morning at 9 a.m. in Pullman, then travel to Lewiston, Idaho to take on Lewis and Clark State at 3 p.m.
