Air Force Women Head to Quad Meet at Mesa State

The Air Force women's swimming and diving team is back in action this weekend, Nov. 8, with a quad meet versus Colorado College, Northern Colorado and host Mesa State. The meet, which will also include club teams from Colorado and Metro State, is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m.

Last Time Out...
The Air Force women's swimming and diving team opened its conference dual slate on Oct. 25, dropping matches to Colorado State, New Mexico and host San Diego State.

Senior Jane Hwang was the Falcons' top performer in the conference-opening meet, notching Air Force's only win, taking first place in the 200 freestyle. Hwang also added two more top-five finishes, placing third in the 200 IM and fifth in the 100 butterfly. Meanwhile, classmate Laken Stogner added a second-place showing in the 50 free.

Scouting the Falcons...
Air Force enters this weekend's match-up with a 1-8 dual record, its lone win a victory over Northern Colorado at the WAC Shootout.

Senior Jane Hwang ranks among the top 10 in the Mountain West Conference in three different events, ranking sixth in the 200 IM, ninth in the 100 butterfly and 10th in the 200 free. Meanwhile, sophomore Kaeli Kluesner holds the seventh-fastest time in the league in the 400 IM.

Scouting the Tigers...
The Colorado College women's swimming and diving team enters this weekend with a 2-0 dual record and is coming off a sixth-place finish at last weekend's Hendrix College Relays. The Tigers will meet Colorado School of Mines in a dual on Friday before heading to Mesa State on Saturday.

Among the top performers for the Tigers this season are freshman Carrie Markel, who leads CC in the 100, 200 and 500 freestyle events this season, and senior Emily Stumhofer, who has the team's top times in both the 200 backstroke and 200 IM.

 

 

Scouting the Bears...
Northern Colorado currently holds an 0-6 dual record and is coming off a second-place finish at the Early Bird Invitational. The Bears will host New Mexico in a relay meet Thursday before heading to Mesa State this weekend.

Among the top performers for Northern Colorado are sophomore Tori Gutt, who leads the team in the 500 free, 200 breast and 200 and 400 IM events, junior Dawn Adams, who owns the team's top time in the 50 and 100 free, and the number-one breaststroker, senior Chesney Randolph.

Scouting the Mavericks...
Mesa State competes in its first dual action of the season this week, after finishing fourth at the Early Bird Invitational to open the season.

Redshirt freshman Gina Panacci was the Mavericks' top performer at the Early Bird Invitational, placing fourth in the 200 fly, while freshmen Jaclyn McMillen (200 back) and Katie Wedel (200 breast) each placed seventh in their respective events.

Up Next...
The Air Force men's and women's swimming and diving teams are back in action next week, Nov. 13, when they open their home slate with a meet versus conference rival TCU. The dual is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Cadet Natatorium.
