Falcons Defeat North Texas, 176-122
DENTON, Texas - The Air Force women's swimming & diving team continued its winning ways, remaining undefeated in dual meets after downing North Texas, 176-122 in a non-conference meet, Friday afternoon at the North Texas Student Recreational Center. The Falcons, who took first in 12 of 16 events, improve to 6-0 on the season.
Leading the way for the Falcons was freshman Jane Hwang, who took first in three individual events and was part of the winning 200 yard medley relay team. Hwang won the 100 butterfly (58.92), the 200 fly(2:13.88), and the 200 individual medley (2:10.67). Hwang, an Irvine, Calif., native also teamed with Lindsey Kirchhoff, Carly Omizo and Laken Stogner to win the 200 medley relay (1:52.17). Junior Lauren White also swam well for the Falcons, winning the grueling 1000 freestyle (10:45.70) and the 500 free (5:11.73). Freshman Laken Stogner also swam strong in the free events, taking first in the 50 free (25.62) and second in the 100 free (55.13). The Air Force duo of senior Carly Omizo and junior Blair Leake continued to dominate the breaststroke events. Omizo just out-touched Leake by .02 seconds to win the 100 breast with a time of 1:08.17, while Leake claimed the 200 breast win with a swim of 2:24.85. The Falcon divers also fared well with sophomore Danielle Dowds winning both the one-meter (235.42) and three-meter (216.75) dives. The Falcons return to action, Sat., Nov. 5, at TCU in a Mountain West Conference dual in Fort Worth, Texas. --30--
