Falcon’s Women’s Swimming Downed 186-113 At San Diego State


    SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Air Force women's swimming team opened Mountain West Conference dual-meet action with a 186-113 loss at San Diego State Wednesday afternoon the Kroc Community Center. The Falcons fall to 11-4 on the season and 0-1 in conference meets.
    San Diego State took first in 11 of the 16 events, led by Emily Schmied, who won the 100 and 200 yard butterfly and the 200 induvudual medley.
    The Falcons were led by sophomore Lauren White, who took first in the 500 free (5:08.34) and 1000 free (10:37.56). Senior team captain Andrea Hyma also finished first for Air Force, winning the 50 free with a time of 25.41.
    The Falcon relay groups swam well also, winning the 200 medley and 400 free relays. The group of Rachael Miller, Carly Omizo, Lindsey Kirchhoff and Andrea Hyma won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:51.85. The group of Ginny Miller, Stephanie Hirst, Kallyn Johnson and Omizo took the 400 free relay with a time of 3:15.84.
    Freshman Danielle Dowds was the top diver for Air Force, taking second in both the one-meter (211.88) and three-meter (209.33) dives.
    The Falcons return to action with the men's team at the Big West Shootout this Fri.-Sat., Nov. 5-6 in Irvine, Calif.
