Air Force Women Open Up MWC Action with Quad-Meet at San Diego State

    The Air Force women's swimming and diving team is back in action this weekend, Oct. 25, for a conference quad-meet with Colorado State, New Mexico and host San Diego State.

    Last Time Out...
    The Air Force women's swimming and diving team opened its season Oct. 10-11 at the WAC Shootout, going 1-5 on the weekend. The Falcons defeated in-state rival Northern Colorado, while falling to Boise State, Nevada, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona and San Jose State.

    The top performer for Air Force at the season-opening WAC Shootout was senior captain Jane Hwang, who picked up four top-10 finishes, including first- and second-place showings in the 200 free. Meanwhile, freshman Lauren Shetley led the Falcons' diving squad, registering three top-10 performances, including a second-place finish in the 3-meter dive on Saturday.

    Scouting the Falcons...
    Air Force enters this weekend with a 1-5 dual record and 0-0 mark in the Mountain West Conference. The Falcons were chosen to finish ninth in the MWC this season.

    Leading the Falcons this year is senior captain Jane Hwang, a five-time all-conference performer and school record-holder in three events.

    Scouting the Rams...
    The Colorado State Rams opened their season at their own Early Bird Invitational last weekend, bringing home the team title with 1730 points. The Rams dominated in the meet, winning all 20 events, while finishing second in 18 of the 20 events. CSU opens its dual slate at UNLV before taking part in the quad-meet at San Diego State.

    Among the top performers for the Rams, picked to finish fifth in the MWC this season, is junior Nora Kennedy, who won both the 100 and 200 butterfly events at the Early Bird Invitational, as well as three relays.

    Scouting the Lobos...
    The New Mexico Lobos, picked to finish eighth in the MWC this year, will open their season this weekend with the quad-meet at San Diego State.

     

     

    Among the leaders for New Mexico is junior Ashley Grisdale, a returning all-conference performer in the 100 and 200 butterfly events.

    Scouting the Aztecs...
    The San Diego State Aztecs, picked to finish seventh in the league this year, enter this weekend with an 0-1 record after opening their season with a 168-132 loss to conference foe Utah.

    The top performer for the Aztecs in the season-opening meet was Jeanette Engzell who won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. Meanwhile, also recording top individual finishes for SDSU were Ashley Flynn (1000 free) and Brooke Vessey (100 back).

    The Air Force women's swimming and diving team return to action Nov. 8, for a tri-meet with Mesa State and Colorado College.
