Falcon Swimmers Head to Fort Collins for Horsetooth Open Water

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Both the Air Force men’s and women’s swimming teams will head to Fort Collins on Sunday, Sept. 10 to compete in the Horsetooth Open Water Swim, a 2.4 mile race in the South Bay Beach area of the Horsetooth Reservoir.

Swimmers from Air Force, Northern Colorado and Colorado State will get started at 7 a.m. Sunday morning, with no team scores being recorded. Awards will be handed out following the race at approximately 9:30 a.m.

The men’s team, fresh off its second straight Western Athletic Conference Championship, will officially start the season at the Colorado Mesa Intermountain Shootout on Oct. 6 and 7. The men’s swimmers host their annual blue/silver meet on Friday, Sept. 22 at 4:30 p.m. while the divers will host theirs on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 9 a.m.

The women’s team, now led by first year head coach Colleen Murphy, will also kick off its season at the Colorado Mesa Invitational. The swimmers will host the annual blue/silver following the men on Friday, Sept. 22 at 5 p.m. while both diving teams will compete in the blue/silver on Sunday, Oct. 1.
