Air Force Announces Incoming Women's Swimming Class of 2017
June 28, 2013
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's swimming head coach Casey Converse announced today the 11 members that will make up the Falcons' class of 2017. The seven cadets arrived for Basic Cadet Training on Thursday, June 27, marking the beginning of the four-year journey to become officers in the United States Air Force. The new cadets will start academic classes on Thursday, Aug. 8.
The freshman class consists of Asia Antoniuk, Emily D'Amato, Nichole Carlson, Kaitlyn Kent, Alexis Kronberger, Hailey Lane, Emma Lochmaier, Genevieve Miller, Kira Schlosberg, Maria Volodkevich and Natsuko Worrell.
Head coach Casey Converse anticipates this rookie class being one of the strongest at the Academy in over a decade. Miller swam at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials and Schlosberg enters the Academy with best times right at AFA school records.
"This group represents one of the largest and most talented classes ever at the AFA," Converse said. "If they make the same kind of progress and commitment to the team that we have seen over the past several classes, the future should be very bright. With the strength of our seniors and the other returners, we believe this will be the year for us to make a move upward in the Mountain West Conference."
