Three Air Force Swimmers Named MWC Scholar-Athletes

Colorado Springs, Colo. - Three members of the Air Force men's and women's swimming and diving teams were named Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the league Monday afternoon. Representing the men's squad were Spencer Liedl and Eric Robinson, while on the women's side, Kallyn Johnson earned MWC Scholar-Athlete recognition.

Johnson receives the fourth MWC Scholar-Athlete citation of her career. The team captain for the Falcon women this season, Johnson also graduated from the Academy last month. The Enid, Okla., native ended her career with a 3.76 GPA while majoring in biology.

Liedl, the team captain for the Air Force men in the 2007-08 season, earns MWC Scholar-Athlete honors for the fourth-consecutive year. A native of Neenah, Wis., Liedl recently graduated from the Academy with a 3.74 GPA in management. Meanwhile, Robinson, a rising sophomore from Lakewood, Colo., is a math major with a 3.95 GPA.

A total of 506 student-athletes were named Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athletes. The MWC Scholar-Athlete Award is the highest academic honor bestowed by the Conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport.
