Davis Qualifies For Olympic Trials at Columbus Grand Prix

COLUMBUS, Ohio. - Freshman Kimberly Davis qualified for the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials with her performance in the 200 meter breaststroke at the Columbus Grand Prix Saturday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on the Ohio State University campus. Davis was one of eight Falcon men's and women's swimmers to compete in day two action.
Davis swam in the 200 breast finals and placed eighth overall. Her finals time of 2:35.06 qualified her for a slot at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Davis is the second Falcon to qualify for the trials, as men's swimmer Cody Deacon qualified in the 100 breast yesterday.
Four other Falcon women's swimmers also swam in day two action. Junior Haley Holcombe and sophomore Gabby Aranda swam the 200 fly. Holcombe placed 30th with a time of 2:25.00 and Aranda was 32nd with a time of 2:26.51.
Four Falcon men swam in day two. Senior Corydon Butler was the top men's swimmer, cracking the B Finals in the 400 free and placing 15th overall with a finals time of 4:03.68.
Day three action concludes the three-day meet Sunday.
