U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Four members of the Air Force women’s swimming team were named to the 2016-17 Mountain West all-conference team.
Senior Genevieve Miller, who earned the Mountain West Senior Recognition Award and the MW Championships Swimmer of the Meet award, was named all-conference in the 200 free, 500 free and 1650 free. She became the first swimmer in MW history to win two different events all four years, winning the title in the 500 and 1650. She placed third in the 200 free this season. Miller broke her own school, Mountain West and MW Championships records in the 500 and 1650 this season’s meet.
Joining Miller on the all-conference team are junior Jinan Andrews, junior Elise Hart and freshman Lydia Knutson. Andrews placed sixth in the 100 free (50.24), the second fastest in school history. Knutson placed fourth in the 50 free, breaking her own school record with a time of 22.69. Hart place eighth in the 100 fly with a time of 54.76.
At the Mountain West Championship meet, the Falcons set nine school records. Miller set new records in the 200, 500, 1000 and 1650 free. Knutson broke the 50 free record for the fourth time this season while Emma Strom tied the school record in the 100 back stroke. The Falcons set new records in the 200 and 400 medley relay and the 200 free relay. Air Force also posted six swims that were the second fastest in school history. Fourteen swimmers scored in the meet, the most in school history.
