Falcon Swimming Swept By Wyoming On Senior Day


    USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force men's and women's swimming and diving team were swept by Wyoming in a Mountain West Conference dual meet at the Cadet Natatorium. The Cowboys won 139-102 and the Cowgirls won 141-97.
    Air Force was led by sophomore Chris Knaute and Lauren White in the 1000 and 500 yard freestyle events. Knaute won the 1000 free with a time of 9:46.20 and the 500 free with a swim of 4:36.71. White won the 1000 free with a time of 10:42.64 and the 500 free with a swim of 5:18.70.
    In the 200 individual medley Justin Lapin beat Wyoming's Olympian, Scott Usher, with a swim of 1:56.17, out-touching Usher by .42 seconds. The Falcons also took first in the 400 free relay (Ryan Moss, TJ Cowling, Gordon White, Paul Parmenter) with a time of 3:07.21.
    Junior Carly Omizo earned first-place points in the 200 breaststroke (2:34.53) and the Falcons also earned first-place points in the 400 free relay (Colleen Smith, Lara Styles, Andrea Hyma, Lindsey Kirchhoff) with a swim of 3:40.68.
    The final dual of the year also meant several Falcon seniors were swimming at the Cadet Natatorium for the final time as Falcons. Steve Lee, Evan Parr and Ryan Fitzgerald from the men's team and Andrea Hyma, Lindsay Jansen, Lara Styles and Julienne White from the women's team were honored for their contributions to the Falcon swimming and diving program at the first intermission.
