Sarah Law and Oscar Delgado Dominate AFA Diving Invitational
Sarah Law of Air Force and Oscar Delgado of the University of Wyoming continued their domination of the 2001 Air Force Academy Diving Invitational Saturday, with each winning a springboard and platform event.
Law, who won the women's 1-meter springboard on Friday, captured the 3-meter event on Saturday with a score of 465.15 points. Divers from Northern Arizona claimed the next five positions, including Kate Morgan in second place with 461.70 points and third-place finisher Maryann Wagener with 411.30 points.
Law also won the women's platform event with 364.40 points. Colorado State's Erin Shumway finished second with 307.10 points, followed by Tracey Berghian of New Mexico (298.93) and Katie Stapp of Air Force (280.40).
Delgado easily won the men's 1-meter springboard competition with 287.70 points after winning the 3-meter event of Friday. He outdistanced second-place Luke Richmond of UNLV by more than 55 points. Richmond finished with 232.05 points. D.J. Hummel of Division II Metro State was third with 214.25 points, followed by Air Force's Ben Chapman with 214 points.
Delgado then finished his trifecta by winning the men's platform with 394.55
points, almost 100 points better than second-place Jeff Roberson of Air
Force, who scored 296.45 points.
