Air Force Swimming & Diving Splits Dual Meet vs. UNLV

    USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force men's & women's swimming & diving teams split it dual meet with UNLV in Mountain West Conference action at the Cadet Natatorium. The Falcon women fell 163-77 and while the men held on to win 119-118.
    The AFA (12-4, 1-0 MWC) men took first in seven events, led by sophomore Chris Knaute and freshman Davey Greer. Knaute was victorious in the 200 free (1:41.17) and the 500 free (4:37.93). Greer won both the one-meter (228.83) and three-meter dive (248.63) competitions.
    Other first place finishes from the men came from junior Matt Karmondy in the 1000 free (season-best 9:51.25), sophomore Justin Lapin in the 200 individual medley (1:56.13) and senior Evan Parr in the 200 backstroke (1:53.20).
    Leading the way for the Falcon women (19-13, 0-3) were junior Colleen Smith and sophomore Lauren White. Smith won the 200 IM by .06 of a second with a season-best time of 2.13.11. White won the 500 free with a swim of 5:12.20. Sophomore Lauren Bursey was the top diver for AFA, taking second in the three-meter dive (224.62) and third in the one-meter dive (213.89).
    The Air Force men's team returns to action tomorrow morning, Saturday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m., hosting Denver. The women's team is also in action tomorrow, at 1 p.m., hosting New Mexico in a conference meet.
