Falcons Swept In Dual At Denver
DENVER -- The Air Force swimming & diving team was swept in a dual at Denver Friday afternoon the El Pomar Natatorium. The Falcon men lost 128-115, while the women lost 136-89.
On the men's side, DU rallied from a 103-104 deficit by winning the final two events to pull out the win and dropping the AFA men to 6-2 record in duals. The Falcon women fell to 7-6 on the season.
The Air Force men were led by junior Chris Knaute, who dominated all three individual events he swam in. Knaute won the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:50.78 and then won the following event, the 200 free, with a time of 1:39.94, which was five seconds faster than teammate Matt Sievers second-place-finishing time of 1:45.22. Knaute also won the 500 free by 11 seconds with a time of 4:35.64.
Junior Paul Parmenter won the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:54.91. Sievers also placed first for the Falcons, winning the 100 butterfly with a time of 51:09.
On the women's side junior Tiffany Biddle and senior Carly Omizo led the way. Biddle won the 500 free with a time of 5:19.89 and Omizo won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.37.
The Falcon women also won the 200 free relay. The group of Melissa Edwards, Roberta Nitzberg, Ginny Miller and Biddle combined to win the 200 free with a time of 1:48.29.
