Air Force Divers Wrap Up Competition at Wildcat Diving Invitational

    TUCSON, Ariz. - Led by its junior class, the Air Force diving team completed three days of competition at the Wildcat Diving Invitational, hosted by Arizona at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.

    In the men's 1-meter finals on Friday, the Falcons were led by junior David Arlington (Eagle River, Alaska), who finished fifth with a score of 308.65. Arlington was also Air Force's top competitor in the 3-meter competition on Saturday, placing fourth in the consolation finals with a mark of 279.25. Classmate Kyle Van Valkenburg (Tucson, Ariz.) was fifth in the consolation finals, registering a mark of 276.46, while freshman Jesse Bicknell (Westtown, N.Y.) placed seventh with a score of 268.10.

    Sunday's competition consisted of the mixed platform, with Van Valkenburg leading the way for Air Force, placing second overall with a score of 309.80. Chelsea Tompkins (Jr., Grand Junction, Colo.) finished 12th overall and second among the women with a score of 211.60, followed by Arlington in 13th place with a mark of 202.00 and senior Ashleigh Peck (Beaver Falls, Pa.) in 14th place with a score of 188.10.

    The Falcons get the rest of the semester off before heading back to Tucson for winter training. Air Force will then host its first dual meet of the spring on Jan. 16, when conference rival UNLV comes to visit.
