Air Force Women's Swimming & Diving Completes Day Two At Georgia Tech Invite

    ATLANTA, Ga. - The Air Force women's swimming & diving team continues to swim well at Georgia Tech Fall Invitational, sitting in 11th place after day two action Saturday at the GT Aquatic Center. Four Falcons cracked the school top 10 list in the 400 yard individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

    Freshman Erin Bleyl continues to swim well for the Falcons, placing 26th in the 100 back. Bleyl swam a time of 58.43 in the prelims, which is the eighth-fastest in school history.

    The Falcons also had strong performances in the 100 fly. Junior Katharine Ernst placed 26th with a season-best time of 56.70 in the prelims. Freshman Gabby Aranda placed 27th with a prelims time of 57.01, which is the seventh-fastest mark at AFA.

    Freshman Alivia Berg placed 38th in the 200 free. Berg swam a time of 1:53.82 which is the eighth-fastest at AFA.

    In the 400 IM, sophomore Haley Holcombe was Air Force's top swimmer, placing 44th. Her time of 4:35.21 is the 10th fastest in school history.

    Sophomore Katrina Castellanos led the Falcons in the 100 breast, taking 27th. Her time of 1:06.60 was nearly four seconds faster than her previous season best.

    Air Force had 10th place finishes in the 200 medley and 800 free relays. Samantha Laughlin, Castellanos, Ernst and Cassie Fletcher swam a time of 1:47.37 in the 200 medley, an improvement of over three seasons from the previous season high. In the 800 free, Bleyl, Elizabeth Keenan, Hannah Cesare and Berg swam a time of 7:42.31.

     

     

    In the 1m springboard diving, freshman Moranda Hern led the way with a 30th place finish, scoring 189.80 points. Fellow classmate Rachel Kennedy followed in 36th with 153.15 points.

    The Falcon men's divers also competed in the 3m diving. Freshman Alex Pecci led AFA with a 20th place finish, scoring 251.60 points. Classmate Peter Cialkowski took 24th with 207.65 points.

    Air Force concludes the meet tomorrow with day three action.
