Davis Sets 200 Breaststroke Record At Hansel Invite Saturday

Kim Davis set the school record in the 200 yard breaststroke to lead the way in Air Force's 12th place overall finish.
Davis broke her own school record in the 200 breast with a consolation finals win and ninth place finish. Davis swam a finals time of 2:15.96, surpassing her previous best of 2:16.78. Freshman Leah Weber also swam well in the 200 breast for the Falcons, placing 16th with a prelim time of 2:18.57, which is the second-fastest in school history.
Davis also was the fastest Falcon in the 100 free, placing 23rd. Her prelim time of 51.46 is the fifth-fastest swim in school history. Sophomore Clara Heffernan also swam a school top 10 time in the 1650 free. Heffernan placed 19th with a time of 17:21.85, which is 10th all-time at AFA.
Air Force also swam well in the 200 butterfly. Senior Haley Holcombe finished 12th with a season-best time of 2:03.86. Freshman Jenna Tasic follwed in 17th with a time of 2:04.83, which is the sixth-fastest in school history.
Junior Samantha Laughlin was the top Falcon swimmer in the 200 back, placing 30th with a time of 2:04.45. The Falcons closed out the meet with a 17th place finish in the 400 free relay. The group of Madeline Huttner, Davis, Erin Bleyl and Hannah Cesare swam a season-best time of 3:28.26.
Air Force concludes its Fall portion of the 2012 schedule. The Falcons resume competition Jan. 11, 2013 at the Mesa Duals in Grand Junction, Colo.
