Falcon Women's Swimming Competes In Triple-Dual Meet At Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Air Force women's swimming and diving teams lost to host Colorado State, New Mexico and San Diego State at Mountain West Conference triple-dual meet at the Epic Center. The Falcons lost to CSU, 194-98, to UNM, 188-112, and to SDSU 161-138. Air Force was led by senior Lauren White, who won the 500 free with a time of 5:09.60 and sophomore Jane Hwang, who won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:12.67. Air Force opened the meet by taking fourth in the 200 yard medley relay. Katelyn Hunter, Blaire Leake, Jane Hwang and Laken Stogner combined ot swim a time of 1:51.04. In the second event of the meet, the 1000 freestyle, Lauren White placed second by one-tenth of a second with a time of 10:35.38. Linsday Brown placed 12th in the 1000 with a time of 12:06.28. White came right back and swam the next event, the 200 free, and placed fourth with a time of 1:58.24. Stogner and Meghan Wildner also swam the 200 free, with Stogner placing ninth (2:01.34) and Wildner taking 12th (2:11.05). Hunter and Kallyn Johnson swam the 100 back for the Falcons, with Hunter taking ninth (1:04.72) and Johnson 11th (1:09.26). In the 100 breaststroke, Leake paced AFA with a fourth place finish (1:08.90). Stephanie Hirst and Solange Eddy also swam the 100 breast and took 11th (1:12.11) and 12th (1:20.05). In the 200 butterfly, Beck Gleason placed sixth (2:16.32), Jane Hwang 10th (2:19.24) and Lindsay Brown 13th (2:53.73).
In the 50 free, Stogner led the way with a sixth place finish (25.60) and Johson placed 15th (27.16). In the 100 free, Stogner placed ninth with a time of 56.05. Robbie Nitzberg took 13th (58.52) and Wildner 14th (1:01.74). In the 200 back, Gleason led the way, taking eighth (2:20.84), with Hunter following up in ninth (2:24.52) and Johson in 11th (2:29.76). Leake placed sixth in the 200 breast with a time of 2:30.15. Hirst followed up in 11th (2:35.84) and Eddy placed 14th (2:56.14). White won the 500 free and followed up by Brown and Wildner, who placed 13th and 14th with times of 5:45.64 and 5:48.21. Hwang swam well in the 100 fly, placing fifth with a time of 1:00.31. Hunter followed up in 11th with a time of 1:03.75 and Nitzberg 13th with a time of 1:03.93. Hwang won the 200 IM and was followed by Gleason in seventh (2:18.62), Leake in eighth (2:19.35) and Hirst in 10th (2:24.92). Air Force had six divers compete in the one-meter and three-meter dives. Emily Shanes, Ashleigh Peck and Danielle Dowds finished fourth, fifth and sixth in the one-meter diving with 197.30, 196.85 and 195.70 points. Lauren Bursey placed ninth with 179.10 points, Amy Get tenth with 167.20 points and Chelseas Tompkins 12th with 141.40 points. In the three-meter diving, Dowds placed third with 224.50 points. Shanes placed eighth with 191.30 points, Get 11th with 188.55 points and Bursey 12th with 187.60 points. The Falcons concluded the meet by taking fourth in the 400 free relay. White, Brown, Nitzberg and Gleason took fourth with a time of 3:54.19. Air Force returns to action next weekend at the Big West Shootout in Irvine, Calif. |
