Falcons sweep tri-meet at Academy

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force women’s swimming team swept a tri-meet at the Academy’s Cadet Natatorium, Saturday, Oct. 21. The Falcons defeated CSU-Pueblo (185-50), Colorado School of Mines (182-52) and Colorado Mesa (152-89).

The meet started with the Falcons winning the 200 medley relay as the team of Emma Strom, Mollie Bushelman, Elise Hart and Lydia Knutson swam a 1:45.12.

Junior Elisabeth Brechbuhl won the 1000 free (10:56.19) and then sophomore Jayden Glover was second in the 200 free (1:58.38).

Air Force took the top three places in the 50 free as Hart won (24.21) while Knutson was second (24.23) and Tianna Jorgenson was third (24.59)

Senior Jinan Andrews won the 200 IM( 2:11.90) and the 100 free (52.84).

The Falcons then swept the 100 butterfly as Hart won (57.10), Jessie Wierzbicki was second (57.35) and Esther Min was third (57.47).

Air Force continued the strong swimming as freshman Kylie Stronko won the 100 back (58.10) and Glover won the 500 free (5:15.92). Freshman Mollie Bushelman was second in the 100 breast with a time of  1:07.81.

In diving, sophomore Kayla Wofford won both the 1m  (247.40) and the 3m (264.35). Sophomore Eve Fowler was second (233.45) on the 1m and third on the 3m (230.50).

The meet ended the same way it started for the Falcons, by winning a relay. The 200 free relay of Andrews, Jessica Chen, Jorgenson and Knutson won with a time of 1:36.57.

The Falcons (5-3 overall) are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 28, with a conference dual meet against Wyoming, Saturday,  Oct. 28, at noon MT in Laramie, Wyo.
