SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Air Force women’s swimming and diving team sits in eighth place after the first three days of the Mountain West Conference Championships, Friday, Feb. 16, at the Palo Alto College Aquatics Center in San Antonio, Texas. The Falcons have 405 team points
In the second event of the evening, junior Emma Strom qualified for the “A” final in the 400 IM and placed seventh with a time of 4:22.25. Senior Elise Hart kept the Falcons rolling in the 100 butterfly, by placing third with a time of 53.75, just shy of her own school record. Freshman Tianna Jorgenson placed 21st with a time of 56:07, the eighth fastest in school history.
In the 200 free, senior Jinan Andrews placed 16th (1:50.44). Her prelim time of 1:49.70 is the fifth fastest in school history.
In the 100 breast stroke, freshman Mollie Bushelman placed 15th with a time of 1:03.79. Bushelman’s 1:02.73 in the prelims is the second fastest in school history. In that same event, sophomore Heidi Schellin placed 18th (1:04.18), the third fastest time in school history.
In the 100 back, Hart placed 15th with a time of 55.46. Her 54.97 in the prelims is the second fastest in school history. Freshman Kylie Stronko placed 19th (55.78).
In exhibition swims, two freshmen cracked the all-time record books in the 100 breast. Morgan Hicks’ 1:03.76 is the fourth fastest all time while Mariah Murray’s 1:05.04 ranks ninth.
