Air Force Drops 157-143 Dual To Colorado State

    USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's swimming was edged out in its home dual finale 157-143 to Colorado State Saturday afternoon at the Cadet Natatorium. Sophomore Kim Davis highlighted the day for the Falcons, cracking the school top 10 list in the 100 breaststroke. The Falcons are now 10-5 on the season.

    The teams split the 16 event meet, winning eight events each. The Falcons earned seven combined individual wins by the trio Hannah Cesare, Kim Davis and Sara Menke.

    Davis placed first in three events, winning the 100 and 200 yard breast, in addition to the 200 individual medley. Davis swam a career-best in the 100 breast. Her time of 1:06.08 is the ninth-fastest mark in school history.

    Cesare won the 100 and 200 freestyle, while Menke won the 500 and 1000 free.

    The Falcons also won the 400 free relay, as the group of Erin Bleyl, Samantha Laughlin, Menke and Cesare swam a time of 3:33.60.

    Six Falcon seniors competed in their final home meet. The class of 2012-13 consists of Katrina Castellanos, team captain Haley Holcombe, Heather Ireland, Rosie Mayou, Lauren McGuire and Alexandra Trobe.

    The Falcons will now prepare for the Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championships, Feb. 20-23, in San Antonio, Texas.
