Falcons Take First At Incarnate Word Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas- Air Force women's swimming put together another solid day of swimming at the Incarnate Word January Invitational Saturday at the Palo Alto College Aquatic Center. The Falcons took first place out of five teams.

Air Force scored 1,311 points to beat out Incarnate Word (971.5), Trinity University (576), Texas-Permian Basin (383.5) and Southwestern University (310).

The Falcons took first or second place in all but one event on the day.  Air Force got first-place swims in seven events. Freshman Kim Davis and sophomore Samantha Laughlin led the way with a pair of wins each.

Davis won the 400 individual medley (4:32.27) and 200 breaststroke (2:24.50). Laughlin won both backstroke events, winning the 100 back (58.79) and 200 back (2:08.64).

Air Force also got wins from junior Haley Holcombe and freshman Clara Heffernan. Holcombe won the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.45. Heffernan won the 1650 free with a time of 17:31.90.

The Falcons also won the 800 free relay. The group of Davis, Erin Bleyl, Heffernan and Hannah Cesare won the 800 free relay with a time of 7:45.78.

The Falcons also had several second place swims on the day. Bleyl placed second in the 200 free (1:55.01), 100 back (1:00.31) and 200 back (2:09.68). Senior Katharine Ernst took second in the 100 fly (59.02) and Cesare also took second in the 100 free (53.40).



Air Force returns to action Feb. 4 at Colorado State.
