Air Force Splits Meet at Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Air Force men's swimming & diving completed its Beehive state sweep with a dual meet win at Utah, 152-142, Saturday afternoon. The Falcon women's team lost 155-120. With the win, the AFA men improved to 11-5, 2-2, while the women dropped to 2-9, 0-7.
The Falcon men notched a weekend sweep as they defeated BYU on Thursday for the programs' first win in Provo since 1981.
Gunn dominated the butterfly events, taking the 200 yard fly (1:53.80) and the 100 fly (49.87). Butler was the top swimmer in the distance freestlye events, winning the 1650 free (16:26.12) and the 500 free (4:44.31). Deacon owned the breaststroke events, winning the 100 (57.45) and 200 breast (2:10.00) events.
The women's team won three events and placed second in 10 events. The Falcons got wins in the 200 fly, 500 free and 100 fly events.
Freshman Erin Bleyl placed second in the 100 (59.65) and 200 backstroke events (2:10.47). Other second place finishes came from Katrina Castellanos in the 100 breast (1:08.82), Cassie Fletcher in the 50 free (24.84), Hannah Cesare in the 100 free (54.09), Rosie Mayou in the 200 breast (2:37.21) and Kaeli Kluesner in the 400 individual medley (4:44.84).
The Falcons also took second in the 400 free relay. Fletcher, Bleyl, Alivia Berg and Cesare combined to swim a time of 3:37.24.
Freshman Moranda Hern was AFA's top diver, taking second in both the 1m (198.23) and 3m (225.30) springboard diving.
The Falcons wrap up the regular season Feb. 5 at Wyoming.
