U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force men’s and women’s swimming teams swept dual meets on Saturday, Jan. 16, in at the Academy’s Cadet Natatorium. The men’s team (14-5 overall) beat Seattle (113.00-76.00) while the women’s team (7-6 overall) beat Seattle (133.00-78.00) and Northern Colorado (130.00-86.00).
Air Force opened the meet by winning the first two relays as the women’s team of Elise Hart, Kira Schlosberg, Maria Schroeder and Brianna Mount won the 200-yard medley with a time of 1:47.27. The men’s team of Devon Davis, Michael Barnosky, Kevin Mitchell and Jordan Dahle also won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:31.70.
Junior Sara Menke won the 1000 free (10:43.35) while Haylie Harbin was third (10:52.83). Kim Davis won the 200 free (1:55.34) while freshman Jinan Andrews was second (1:56.42). Brianna Mount won the 50 free (24:52). Genevieve Miller won the 200 free (2:12.08) and Maria Schroeder was second (2:13.06). Jenna Tasic won the 100 fly (58.43). Kim Davis won the 100 free (53.44) and Maria Schroeder was third (54.05). Miller also won the 500 free (5:12.00). Kira Schlosberg won the 100 breaststroke (1:06.10). In women’s diving, Jessica Horn was second on the platform with 189.23 points.
The Falcon men swept the 1000 free as Alex Strom won (9:52.30) while Andrew Faciszewski was second (10:05.09) and Garrett Glaudini was third (10:15.98). The Falcon men also swept the 200 free as Robby Graves won (1:43.51) while George Frank was second (1:43.62) and Ryan Dunne was third (1:44.84). In the 50 free, Dunne won (21.00) while Lars Knutson was second (21.49). Dunne also won the 100 fly (49.35). Air Force claimed the top two spots in the 200 IM as Barnosky won (1:56.17) and Derek Brecht was second (1:59.29). Michael Hannigan won the 100 free (46.19). Kevin Jackson won the 500 free (4:49.17). Barnosky won the 100 back (56.45).
The Falcons closed out the meet by winning the final relay of the day. The women’s team of Andrews, Menke, Miller and Davis won the 400 free with a time of 3:34.97.
The men’s and women’s teams are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 24, for a dual meet at UNLV at 10 a.m. PT in Las Vegas, Nev.
