Air Force Women's Swimming & Diving Dominates Foster Duals

    USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's swimming & diving showcased a dominant performance at the Bill & Peggy Foster Duals Saturday at the El Pomar Natatorium on the campus of Colorado Mesa University. The Falcons swept the competition, going 5-0, which included a resounding win over conference rival New Mexico. Air Force improves to 11-2 on the season, its best win total since the 2005 season.

    Air Force defeated Colorado (247-32), Adams State (252-37), Colorado Mesa (248-49), New Mexico 167-127) and Northern Colorado (215-79). The Falcons took first place in 11-of-16 events. Starting with event five, the Falcons took control of the meet by winning seven events in a row.

    Freshman Kim Davis won three events to lead the way for AFA. Davis won the 100 yard breast (1:06.17), 200 breast (2:21.63) and 200 medley (2:08.75).

    Freshman Clara Hefferson won the 1000 free (10:51.01), senior Katharine Ernst won the 200 fly (2:11.01) and senior Cassie Fletcher won the 50 free (24.45). Sophomore Erin Bleyl won the 100 free (53.42) and sophomore Samantha Laughlin won the 200 back (2:04.85).

    The Falcon divers also placed first in both diving events. Sophomore Moranda Hern won the 1m dive with 243.60 points. Freshman Lainie Long won the 3m dive with 250.87 points.

    Air Force closed out the meet by winning the 400 free relay. The group of Bleyl, Heather Ireland, Hannah Cesare and Fletcher won with a time of 3:33.25.

    The Falcons return to action Jan. 27-28 at the Incarnate Word Invite in San Antonio, Texas.
