San Diego, Calif. - Despite a pair of wins from junior Jane Hwang (Irvine, Calif.), the Air Force women's swimming team suffered a 167-63 loss to San Diego State Friday afternoon at the new Aztec Aquaplex. The Aztecs won eight of 16 events, while TCU, also competing, took six events. With the loss to SDSU, the Falcons fall to 2-6 (0-4 in the MWC) on the season.
Hwang picked up her first victory of the day in the 200 freestyle, notching a time of 1:55.42. She followed up that win with a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly, registering a season-best time of 58.81.
Also registering top-five finishes for Air Force were freshmen Jessica Rodgers, Kaeli Kluesner (Denver, Colo.) and Betsy Scarberry (Fairborn, Ohio). Rodgers took third place in the 200 IM with a mark of 2:14.65, while finishing fourth in the 100 free at 55.23. Kluesner took fourth place in the 200 back, registering a time of 2:13.54, while Scarberry clocked in at 11:10.54 in the 1000 free to finish fifth.
The Air Force women are back in action next weekend, Dec. 12, with a dual meet at Denver, scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
