Nov. 6, 2002

Air Force senior Billie Rothwell and sophomore Cookie Day were named to the all-Mountain West Conference women's soccer team by the league's seven head coaches. Both were named to the second team.

Day, a sophomore midfielder from Mansfield, Texas, tied for the team lead with five goals and was second on the team with 12 points. She started all 18 games for the Falcons, including all six in MWC action.

Rothwell, a senior defender from Round Rock, Texas, started all 18 games for the Falcons at sweeper and helped limit opponents to 6.4 shots per game in all games and just 4.0 shots per game in league contests.

Utah's Rich Manning was named the MWC coach of the year while BYU's Jeni Viernes was the player of the year. BYU's Brooke Bowman was selected as the freshman of the year.

Sixth-seeded Air Force faces third-seeded New Mexico in the first round of the MWC Tournament, Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 4:30 p.m. at the South Field in Provo, Utah. The winner faces the winner of the Utah-Wyoming game Thursday, Nov. 7, at 4:30 p.m. The loser is eliminated.

The Falcons finished the regular season with a 7-11-0 overall record and a 2-4 mark in the MWC.
