USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women’s soccer landed three players on the 2017 Mountain West Women’s Soccer All-Conference Team, announced today by the conference office. Jennifer Hiddink, Angela Karamanos and Alex Giggie earned All-MW honors.
Hiddink, a junior, earned first-team honors as a goalkeeper. Karamanos, a senior, earned second-team honors as a midfielder. Giggie, a defender, was named to the conference all-newcomer team.
Hiddink, a native of Wylie, Texas, put together a dominant season in goal for the Falcons. The junior leads the Mountain West with 116 saves so far this season, which is one shy of the Air Force school record. Her 87 saves in conference play is a new MW record, shattering the previous record of 75. Hiddink currently has five shutouts on the season and posts a 1.22 goals against average.
Karamanos, a native of Los Gatos, Calif., earned second-team All-MW honors for the second-straight season. As a senior, she anchored the midfield for the Falcons, scoring one goal and one assist. Karamanos led the team with 46 shot attempts.
Giggie, a native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., has anchored Air Force’s back line as the lead backer. Giggie started 16 matches and led all Falcon freshmen in minutes played. She is part of a Falcon defense that helped contribute to five shutouts and a 1.22 team GAA, which is the lowest at Air Force since 2012.
The three all-conference selections ties the 1999 team for most All-MW selections in a season for Air Force.
