Air Force Closes Out 2013 vs. Boise State and Wyoming
Air Force women's soccer closes out the 2013 season with a road match at Boise State and a home match against Wyoming. The Boise State match is Wed., Oct. 30 and the Wyoming match is Friday, Nov. 1.
Falcons Play Seven in 15 days
Air Force women's soccer is wrapping up their season by playing seven games in 15 days. The Falcons are making up two games postponed due to the government shutdown, playing them in the middle of the week.
Young Falcon Squad
With a squad of 12 freshmen, Air Force has one of the youngest teams in the nation. The Falcons have started nine different freshmen this year. Air Force has started four freshmen in all but one game and started six vs. Utah State.
Six Seniors To Be Honored Friday
Air Force will be honoring its six seniors prior to Friday's match with Wyoming. The class of 2013 consists of Leah Bratt, Loren Catchpole, Megan Dozier, Kaleigh Moses, Erin Rost and Kelly Stambaugh.
Stambaugh Slated to Return For Final Two Matches
Air Force senior Kelly Stambaugh is slated to return to goalkeeping duties for the final two games. Stambaugh was forced to miss four games due to illness. The senior is Air Force's all-time leader with a 1.09 career goals-against average. With 5,624 career minutes played, she is 172 minutes shy of the school record.
Greco Leads Team in Assists
Freshman Ashley Greco has assisted on four of five Air Force goals so far this season. Her four assists are the third-most by a freshman in program history. It is the most assists by a frosh since 1998.
Scouting Boise State
Boise State is 10-6-2, 5-3 after falling 1-0 to San Diego State and winning 2-1 in overtime against New Mexico over the weekend. Midfielder Brooke Heideman leads the team with eight goals and 17 points. Maddy McDevitt has a 0.80 GAA in goal.
Wyoming is 7-9-3, 4-3-2 after tying Nevada 1-1 and falling 3-2 to UNLV over the weekend. Forward Lucie McDowell leads the team with seven goals and 19 points. Alex Boehm has a 1.39 GAA in goal.
Larry Friend (USAFA 1985) is 24-53-11 in his fifth year as the head coach at Air Force.
Jim Thomas (Glamorgan Univ. (UK)) is in his first year as a head coach at Boise State.
Pete Cuadrado (TCU, 2000) is 15-17-5 in his second year at Wyoming and is 108-79-13 in his 11th year as a head coach.
