    Air Force Plays For MWC Tournament Slot In Season-Finale at Wyoming
    The Air Force women's soccer team plays a pivotal regular season-ending match at Wyoming this Saturday, Oct. 30. A win would put the Falcons into the MWC Championships for the first time since 2005. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at the Madrid Sports Complex.

    2010 Falcons
    Air Force returns 15 letterwinners, including eight starters in 2009. The Falcons also welcome seven freshmen. Air Force returns leading scorer Stephanie Patterson, a sophomore forward and two-time All-MWC selection in Bridgett Murphy, a junior forward.

    Recapping Last Weekend
    Air Force is 7-9-1 on the season after dropping a 1-0 heartbreaker in double-overtime to #17 New Mexico on Friday and defeating TCU 1-0 on Sunday. The Falcons lost in the 103rd minute vs. UNM. Junior Kelly Bieber scored in the 25th minute to lift AFA to the win over TCU. Freshman goalkeeper Kelly Stambaugh notched her fourth shutout of the season vs. TCU.

    Falcons Capture First MWC Win Since 2003
    Air Force's 1-0 win over TCU Sunday gave the Falcons its first Mountain West Conference win since 2003. It snapped a 21-game winless streak and a 41-game losing streak.

    Air Force has reached numbers not seen in several years. Below are some of the numbers. The Falcons have more than doubled their points total (63-26) from a season ago.

    Team Statistical Leaders
    Sophomore forward Stephanie Patterson leads the team with 14 points and five goals. Junior forward Bridgett Murphy leads the team with five assists. Freshman Kelly Stambaugh has logged 1542 minutes in front of the net for Air Force and has a 1.05 goals against average and 845 saves.

    Scouting Wyoming
    Wyoming is 7-9-2, 1-3-2 on the season defeating TCU 2-0 and tying New Mexico 1-1 last week. Freshman Nahiomy Ortiz leads Wyoming with three goals and 10 points. Sophomore Courtney Merkle has a 1.68 GAA with 68 saves at goalkeeper for the Cowgirls.

    The Coaches
    -Larry Friend is in his second year as the head coach at Air Force. The 1985 USAFA grad is 10-23-2 as a head coach.
    -Danny Sanchez (UConn `91) is 24-27-4 in his third season at Wyoming and is 152-38-13 in his ninth season overall.
