Air Force Dropped By UC Davis, 2-0

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- A pair of second-half goals lifted UC Davis to a 2-0 victory over Air Force in a Sunday afternoon women's soccer contest at the Cadet Soccer Stadium. The Falcons drop to 3-7-1 on the season and the Aggies improve to 3-4-2.

For the second consecutive match, Air Force hung tough with its opponent until surrendering goals in the second half.

After the Falcons and Aggies played to a scoreless first period, UCD took the lead at the 57:50 mark with a goal by Megan Wall. Heather Finlayson curled a ball from the right corner of the box over AFA goalkeeper Jennifer Drew but the ball hit the cross bar. Wall was there for the rebound and headed the ball into the open net from eight yards out.

UC Davis added an insurance goal in the 75th minute, as Dayna Dumont took a pass on the right side and slipped the ball past Drew to the lower right corner for the goal. Danielle Contro was credited with the assist on the goal.

The Falcons out-shot their opponents for the third consecutive game, 17-12. Junior Brittney Perkowski had five shots, three on goal.

Drew had two saves in the loss for AFA. Krystyn Lizak started and played the first period at goalkeeper for the Aggies, recording two saves. Megan Daws replaced Lizak in the second period, recording five saves and was credited with the win.

Air Force returns to action this Friday (Sept. 30) as they host the AFA Nike Invitational at the Cadet Soccer Stadium. After Northern Colorado and Wright State play at 5 p.m., the Falcons take on Idaho State at 7 p.m. Admission is free for the entire tournament.
