    This Week In Falcon Women's Soccer

    Falcons Head To Idaho State Tournament
    The Air Force women's soccer team heads to the Idaho State Tournament in Pocatello, Idaho., for a pair of weekend matches. The Falcon take on Northern Iowa this Friday, Sept. 21 and Idaho State on Sunday, Sept. 23.

    Radio For Sunday Match
    The Air Force-Idaho State match on Sunday, Sept. 23, will be broadcast live at 91.1 FM KISU in Pocatello. The game can also be listened to via internet radio. For the link, log on to Idaho State's women's soccer page www.isubengals.com.

    Last Week
    Air Force tied Army 0-0 last Friday and lost to Southeast Missouri State 2-0 on Sunday. Ashley Collins, Corbin Sanford and Roni Yadlin were named to the Toys For Tots All-Tournament Tean.

    Northern Iowa defeated IUPUI 3-0 and lost to Valparaiso 1-0 in overtime last weekend.

    Idaho State lost a pair of overtime matches last weekend to Utah, 3-2, and Utah State 1-0.

    Streaks
    Air Force and Northern Iowa have one-game losing streaks. Idaho State has a two-game losing streak.

     

     

    Last Meeting
    Air Force and Northern Iowa meet for the first-time ever.

    Air Force defeated Idaho State, 3-0, at the Academy in 2005. Christin Brodie scored the game-winning goal in that match, with Corbin Sanford also contributing an assist on a later goal. Erin Wallace also had six saves in the shutout win at goalkeeper.

    Last Time At Idaho State Tournament
    Air Force has played in the Idaho State Tournament once before in 2001. The Falcons defeated Weber State, 5-2, in their first match and then tied ISU 0-0 in the second match.

    Coaches
    Air Force is coached by Marty Buckley (Chico State, 1978) who is 109-170-19 in his 16th season at the Academy.

    Northern Iowa is coached by Kathy Kakoyianni-Bering (Western Ontario, 2001) who is 5-35-1 in her third year.

    Idaho State is coached by Allison Gibson (Sonoma State, 1995) who is 12-12-2 in her third year.

    Series History
    Air Force is 2-0-1 all-time against Idaho State. Air Force won the first meeting vs. ISU, 3-2, in 1999.

    Air Force and Northern Iowa meet for the first-time ever.

    Air Force Team Leaders
    Junior Roni Yadlin and sophomore Ashley Collins have scored the two lone goals for the Falcons.

    Junior Erin Wallace has started five of the six games at goalkeeper for the Falcons. Wallace has a 0.84 Goals Allowed Average. Wallace has three shutouts on the season and had her scoreless streak stopped at three games against SEMO. Wallace went 340 scoreless minutes in front of the net for the Falcons.

    Scouting The Opponents
    Northern Iowa enters the week with a 2-3-1 record. The Panthers are led by freshman midfielder Chelsie Hochstedler, who has scored five of the team's seven goals this year. Senior Heidi O'Mara has started all six games in front of the net for UNI and has 28 saves to go with a 1.33 GAA.

    Idaho State also enters the week with s 2-3-1 record. The Bengals are led by sophomore forward Jana Boehler, who leads the team with two goals, two assists and six points. Senior Maren Eves has logged all 578 minutes in front of the net for ISU, recording 41 saves and posting a 1.25 GAA.

    Air Force returns home to host the Air Force Tournament, Sept. 28-30. The Falcons take on North Dakota State on Friday, Sept. 28 and UC Irvine on Sunday, Sept. 30.
