USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women’s soccer released its 2017 schedule, announced today by head coach Larry Friend. The Falcons open the season Aug. 18 at Denver as part of the Colorado Cup.
The 18 game schedule features eight home matches, including five in a row in the month of September.
Air Force preps for the DU opener with two exhibition matches in Clemson, S.C. The Falcons play exhibition matches on Aug. 8 against Clemson and Aug. 11 vs. Furman.
The Falcons take on Denver and Northern Colorado in the opening weekend as part of the annual Colorado Cup. After the Friday road match at Denver, the Falcons will play Northern Colorado on Sunday, Aug. 20 at Prentup Field in Boulder. On Saturday, Aug. 19, the Falcons will join with Colorado, Colorado State, Denver and UNC to host a youth soccer clinic in Westminster.
The following weekend has the Falcons taking part in the Montana Cup in Missoula, Mont. Air Force takes on host Montana on Aug. 25 and Eastern Washington on Aug. 27.
Air Force begins its five-match home stand Sept. 1, beginning USAFA Parents Weekend by hosting McNeese. The following week has Air Force hosting Army West Point on Sept. 8 and South Dakota on Sept. 10. Army West Point visits the Academy for the first time since 2008.
The 11-game Mountan West portion of the season begins Sept. 22 with a home match against in-state rival Colorado State. The Falcons cap their home stand Sept. 24 hosting Wyoming.
The Falcons hit the road for its next four matches starting with a weekend series Sept. 29 at Nevada and Oct. 1 at UNLV. The following weekend has Air Force at Boise State Oct. 6 and Utah State Oct. 8.
Air Force hosts New Mexico on Oct. 13 and San Diego State on Oct. 15. The final weekend on the road for the Falcons has an Oct. 20 trip to Fresno State followed by an Oct. 22 date at San Jose State.
The Falcons wrap up the regular season Oct. 26, hosting Colorado College. The Thursday night finale will also count towards the Colorado Cup standings.
Air Force will compete for a chance to play at the MW Championship, held Oct. 31-Nov. 4 at UNLV. The top six teams from conference play are eligible for the MW Championship.
