Air Force Women's Soccer Welcomes A Record 20 Newcomers In 2008

July 8, 2008

USAF Academy, Colo. - Twenty freshmen comprise the 2008 Air Force women's soccer freshmen class, announced today by head coach Marty Buckley. It is the biggest incoming class ever for the program and arguably it's most talented, highlighted by four all-state selections.

"We are very excited about this incoming class," an enthusiastic Buckley said. "It's by far our biggest class and has the potential to be our most talented. All of the players come to the Academy with very strong high school and club credentials and will immediately compete for playing time. This class provides us with talent and depth at every position we haven't had in recent years."

The class of 2012 represents players from 13 states, inluding three from Colorado and four from Washington. Kelly Beiber (Windsor, CO), Amber Sikora (Vancouver, WA), Shaina Thompson (Olympia, WA) and Heather Watts (Chino Valley, AZ) come to the Academy with all-state credentials. Stephanie Puzak (Colorado Springs - Pine Creek HS) and Kalyn Tung (Denver - George Washington HS) comprise the other two local freshmen from Colorado.

The Falcons begin practices on Monday, August 4 in preparation for the 2008 season. Air Force opens the season on August 16 with a home exhibition with Colorado.
