Air Force Women's Soccer Announces 2010 Fall Schedule

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Head coach Larry Friend announced the Air Force women's soccer 2010 schedule today. The 19-game regular season schedule features 10 home games, including the The AFA Fall Classic and The Falcon Invitational. "We are excited for the fall season," Friend said. "We have a competitive schedule with some great opponents that should prepare us well for the Mountain West Conference." The Falcons open the 2010 season on Friday, Aug. 20, hosting CSU-Pueblo. Prior to the CSU-Pueblo match, the Falcons will scrimmage at Colorado on Sunday, Aug. 15. Air Force's first road match of the season is Aug. 22 at Northern Colorado. The Falcons then host four-consecutive matches beginning with a weekend series Aug. 27-29. Air Force takes on Boise State on the 27th and Dayton on the 29th. The Falcons then host the Air Force Fall Classic over Parent's Weekend, Sept. 3-5. Sept. 3 action features Fairleigh Dickinson vs. Northern Colorado in the first match and the Falcons taking on The Citadel in the second game. On Sept. 5, Northern Colorado and The Citadel play the morning match while AFA hosts Fairleigh Dickinson in game two. The following week has the Falcons in Cullowhee, N.C. taking part in the Western Carolina Invitational, Sept. 10-12. Air Force takes on Western Carolina on the 10th and Mercer on the 12th. The Falcons play its final non-conference road series in Flagstaff, Ariz., Sept. 17-19. Air Force plays Northern Arizona on the 17th and Southern Utah on the 19th. The following week, Sept. 24-26, AFA hosts the Falcon Invitational. Sept. 24 action features UNLV vs. VMI in game one and Air Force vs. Weber State. Sept. 26 features the Falcons vs. VMI in the morning match and UNLV vs. Weber State in game two. Air Force opens Mountain West Conference play Oct. 1, hosting Utah. The Falcons then play three-consecutive on the road beginning Oct. 9 at BYU. Air Force then travels to San Diego State Oct. 14 and UNLV on Oct. 16. The weekend of Oct. 22-24 will be Air Force's final home games. The Falcons host New Mexico on the 22nd and TCU on the 24th. Air Force concludes the regular season Oct. 30 at Wyoming. The 2010 MWC Championships runs Nov. 3-6 in San Diego, Calif. "We are coming off a very productive spring season," Friend added. "The team worked on improving its mindset, attitude and commitment to each other. Our fitness level has improved as well. We got better at identifying tactical situations on the field during games and our efforts resulted in a 4-0-6 spring season with 22 goals scored. We hope to take the momentum gained from a successful spring and carry it over to the fall."
