Air Force Women's Soccer Announces Team Awards

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force head coach Marty Buckley announced the 2006 women's soccer team awards today. Headlining the awards was sophomore midfielder Corbin Sanford, who was named team Most Valuable Player.

Senior Melinda Mokos was named team Offensive MVP and junior Rhett Chase was named the team Defensive MVP. Freshman Kelsey Yip was named Most Improved and freshman Caitlin Lynch was named Rookie of the Year.

Sanford, a Lakeway, Texas, native, started 16 of 19 games for the Falcons, scoring one goal. Mokos, a Burnsville, Minn., native started 15 of 19 games and was second on the team with two assists.

Yip, a native of Littleton, appeared in 12 matches, starting six and scored one goal. Lynch, a native of Aurora, appeared in 19 matches, starting 17.

Buckley also announced that Rhett Chase and Christin Brodie will be the team captains for the 2007 squad.
